Tea Kettle - A Small Kitchen Appliance

Tea is a beverage which is most of the time made with boiling water. A tea kettle is a small kitchen appliance which is generally used to heat water to make a cup of tea. Tea kettles come in many different guises from durable plastic to metal. The general shape of a tea kettle is the same, it comes with a spout,a body (various shapes) and a handle.

Teakettles come mainly in two different varieties. There is the electric kettles which use electricity to boil water. Once the water has boiled the kettle deactivates to stop the water boiling away and to protect the kettle. The other are metal kettles which boil water when heated using a stove. These kettles usaully have a whistle indicating when the water has boiled. Before the invention of electirc kettles these kettles where the norm.

Cordless kettles again heat water using electricity. They usaully have a plastic base which connects to an electrical supply and a detachable kettle. The kettle sits on top of the base and when the water has boiled these kettles can be moved around leaving the base attached to the mains output.

The kettle has been a part of the basic process to make your favourite cup of tea, herbal tea, green tea or oolong tea. Today the kettle is not only used to make a cup of tea but also other beverages which require hot water.

Majority of households prefer to use electric kettles because of ease of use and the time it takes to boil the water. Whereas so called tea connsoisseurs prefer the stove kettle. They believe that the traditional stove kettle brings out the aroma in tea leaves and preserves its natural taste.
